The West erased a 26-point second-half deficit and completed a dramatic comeback to defeat the East, 102-101, in the N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star Boys Basketball Game on Monday night at the Novant Health Field House in Greensboro.

Braylon Taylor (Salisbury) led the West with a game-high 28 points, while ExZavier Young (North Mecklenburg) added 16 points and 10 rebounds. Will Seward (Hoggard) paced the East with 22 points and 10 rebounds.

The East led 20-19 after the first quarter before exploding for 43 points in the second to build a 63-44 halftime advantage. The lead grew to as many as 26 points early in the third quarter, but the West steadily worked its way back, outscoring the East 29-19 in both the third and fourth periods to complete the comeback.

Taylor scored his 28 points on 11-of-23 shooting and also knocked down four free throws. Young finished 8-of-16 from the field and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.

Colby Elliott (Williams) added 14 points for the West, while Dionte Neal (Reidsville) and Josiah Guyton (Lincolnton) scored 12 points each. Jack Siegel (Charlotte Catholic) contributed nine points and a game-high five steals.

For the East, Shimere Garris (Washington) finished with 24 points and six rebounds, shooting 9-of-18 from the field and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Seward connected on nine of his 12 field goal attempts in his 22-point performance.

Cam Fowler (Northwood) added 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Jamie Dance (Currituck County) scored 11 points. Chaise Smith (Washington) finished with eight points and a game-high eight assists.

The East shot 47.1% from the field compared to 41.2% for the West, but the West generated extra opportunities on the offensive glass and at the free-throw line. The West grabbed 16 offensive rebounds and went 16-of-18 from the foul line.

The West also held a 59-52 advantage in bench scoring and scored 24 points off East turnovers.

After controlling most of the first half and opening a commanding lead early in the third quarter, the East saw its advantage disappear as the West scored 58 points over the final two periods to pull off the dramatic 102-101 comeback.
