UCPS Schools Compete at XC Invitationals

Union County Public Schools cross country teams hit the ground running in September, making a strong statement at early-season invitationals across the region.

2026 PR XC Carnival (September 26, 2026)

Held at Cuthbertson Middle School in Waxhaw, NC, and timed by Pierre Timing, this annual local showcase featured high-density competition among Union County high schools and middle school feeder programs:

    • Porter Ridge High School: Led local high school performances in the varsity 5K divisions, with top runners clocking individual times in the 23:20–23:30 range across the girls’ varsity races.

    • Middle School / Youth Divisions: Served as UCPS Middle School Meet #5, where Cuthbertson MS and Porter Ridge MS feeder squads took top team positions across the 3K distance.

2026 adidas XC Challenge (September 18–19, 2026)

Hosted at the WakeMed Soccer Complex in Cary, NC, this meet featured high school runners competing in one of the Southeast’s fastest invitational fields:

  • Weddington High School:

    • Vedant Rai hit MileSplit “Elite Performance” status for Weddington, pacing the Warriors in the Boys Championship 5,000-meter run.

  • Marvin Ridge & Cuthbertson:

    • Both schools entered split squads in the Championship and Invitational races, keeping their varsity lineups near the top of the NCHSAA 4A team rankings.
